Parked in the pr lot for glod creek, as the road to the parking for alaska lake is gated. Followed the road up where it turned to trail. Trail in good cond, until the turn off for alaska lake. Once we turned off to go to alaska lake the trail is a bit hard to follow, and very over grown. We passed a few people who tried to find alaska lake, but could not. In the mount's book it says in a flower meadow turn left and start the climb. The turn off is before the meadow...if you go to the meadow you have gone to far. There is a faint trail to the left after crossing alaska creek the turn off is in the trees. I think this is where theres the confussion.Snow at the lake, but none after the turn off on the trail up to the lake. A few small patches before the tuen off. The weather turned out to be wonderful, sunny. We meet a friend at the th and had a great time. Saw mabey 5 groups on the trail total, so was nice..... not to busy. The creek crossing are easy... at the most water above the knees. It felt like an adventure..really looking for the lake and the crossing etc. Very fun. It is probley about 12.5 or so including the raod walking. Lots of bugs! Had a fun day.

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
