Wildflowers blooming
Be Aware Of
Mudholes
Water on trail
Snow on trail
Gorgeous day to hike the trail. Fair number of fellow travellers for a Monday. Got a late start (2:00), but still managed to make it back before dark. Wildflowers are just starting to bloom, but still beautiful. Several snow patches on trail. some undermined by snowmelt, so a trekking pole and a watchful eye on the snow are advisable. Views from the pass are amazing! lots of snow on the east side of the pass. Road to the trailhead was in better shape than I've seen in the past. Had a marmot try to pick our pockets 4/5 of the way up! Busy trail, but well worth doing, especially on a weekday.

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
