From the upper basin... can you spot the lookout?
The first superwarm Saturday of the summer! The parking lot was full to overflowing by 10am. My little Prius found the road a little rough, but OK, just took it slow. No problems.

The trail to Hidden Lake peaks is in good shape for folks that are adept at some travel on snow, patches in mid-section and more up high. Lots of runoff (higher in afternoon) made the stream crossings challenging, especially for those wearing light hikers. Lots of mud. Few bugs, mostly at parking lot... Didn't notice them while hiking.

Section across the middle hillside has so much vegetation that it's hard to see feet sometimes. Some flowers on upper section. First patches of snow at upper creek crossings, about 5200, and then intermittently until the high basin. Took ice axe but didn't use it, poles fine. Softened up more for the descent.

Lots of company enroute and on top. Lake still frozen, with just edges beginning to show.

Fab views!!

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
