Lots of amazing wildflowers along switchbacks in the avy valley. Tiger lilies, columbine, paintbrush, lupine, and more!

At the beginning of the long traverse, there is a small snowfield with a creek running under it. Notice how thin the snow is and how hollow it is. Then notice how the tracks go right over the snow and notice all the holes from where people broke through. I strongly suggest crossing the creek below the snow and going up the heather slope on the other side to avoid that snow altogether. Crossing that snow without breaking through would be close to impossible.

I went up the south peak (with the lookout) first. Then I went up the higher north peak. I highly recommend going up the north peak. The view of Eldorado Peak is much better.

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
