The hike was great! This is probably my favorite area on baker. At 3 miles the trail forks and there is no sign. Make sure yours going up and staying on the ridgeline. I had to backtrack about a mile.. to get back on track. I hiked this trail last year and the fog was heavy, so i couldn't see the scenery. The wild flowers are awesome! If you have binoculars bring them. I got pretty close to chowder ridge and there were tons of baby and mama goat tracks. Along with the shedding wool all over the snow. I could smell them but didn't see any. Im sure from a distance i would have seen the herd. I hiked 3/4 of a miles past the end of the trail. Since it goes all the way to baker... if you go alittle further you will probably have the area to yourself. There are some good technical rock climbs and some decent slopes to mess around with your ice axe if your feeling creative. The sunset was breathtaking on this sweet clear day. Personally i feel obligated to visit the high mountains every week since summer doesn't last long. On the way back down on saturday i ran into 40 plus people. Leave early! Get out and explore!
