Van Trump Park

I started in Longmire, intending to hike up to Van Trump Park on the Rampart Ridge Trail and then head back down via Comet Falls to Christine Falls and then take the shuttle bus back to Longmire. Unfortunately, about 2 hours into the hike I encountered a sign posted in June that said the trail from Van Trump Park to Christine Falls is closed around Comet Falls due to an avalanche that has resulted in very dangerous conditions. I turned around and headed back down to Longmire. I checked at the Information Center at Longmire and the trail is indeed still closed. Check with the park rangers before taking this trail.
