A morning in the office, an afternoon hike in the mountains and home in time for dinner. The beauty of living in this area. Cedar Butte was the perfect fit for this afternoon's adventure. Thirty minutes from Seattle for a little solitude climb through the woods with a peak a boo view that was hampered a little by the low clouds hanging around North Bend today.
This is such a quiet trail when Rattlesnake Ledge trail nearby is so busy. Granted, it doesn't have the views, but you don't always need them. There were quite a few cyclists doing the John Wayne Trail, which you need to walk a mile on before coming to the Cedar Butte trail, but once heading up to the Butte we pretty much had it to ourselves and were the only ones at the summit.
This is a good trail for new hikers. It is easy to follow, not too long nor steep and you are surrounded by trees draped in magical moss. The trail is in great condition and have I mentioned it was quiet. A few mosquitoes out but not very bothersome here.
Being by Rattlesnake Lake, the dogs were able to have a quick swim to cool off and get the dust off before heading home.
