Be Aware Of
Bugs
Hiked from 10AM to 3PM. Distance from trailhead to Tolmie Peak is closer to 3.3 miles one-way due to detour around fallen trees. BEWARE OF BUGS! Swarms of mosquitos and black flies resulted in bites for our entire party (average 20 bites per person). Would recommend wearing deet (fyi not safe for synthetic clothes) as well as eating garlic, sage, rosemary to prevent being bitten. Bring long sleeve clothing too just in case.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
