It was well worth the climb!
I'm a fairly novice hiker, and last year hiked to Bridal Veil falls and found it simply amazing. This year we (two 56 year old women in fairly good shape)decided to do Lake Serene. It was even more amazing! We did find it somewhat challenging and steep, but felt better about ourselves when on the way down we encountered several groups of 20 and 30 somethings struggling to make it up the mountain! Took us 2.5 hours from trailhead to lake, and 2 hrs. for the return trip. The trail was blocked at one point by what looks like a fairly recent tree down but was fairly easy to scramble over.

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
