Be Aware Of
Snow on trail
planned on making it to the falls today, but turned back about a quarter mile after hitting junction of falls due to a sketchy avalanche chute full of snow. probably wouldn't try it without traction devices and possibly an ice axe. From the the parking area patchy snow gradually becoming frequent after first mile. A bit slippery, probably best to take traction devices if going any further than a couple miles, poles came in handy today too. road to trailhead totally clear today. very beautiful moss and views up to mt. index in route.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
