My son and I stayed at Tubal
Cain Mine two nights and took day hikes to Buckhorn Pass and Tull Canyon. USFS reported an avalanche at 2.5 miles in, but this is easily passable. Some Rhodies were still in blume and the wildflowers on the way to Buckhorn pass were outstanding. The only drawbacks on the whole trip were the crowds and people taking parts of the airplane wreckage from Tull Canyon. There was no one at the site when we arrived. By the time we got back from Buckhorn Pass there were 25 tents scattered around! Three Boy Scout troops chose this weekend to visit the mine. And on our way up to Tull canyon we say parts of wreckage that people had carried out. So much for taking only pictures and leaving only footprints.

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
