Hike: Church Mountain
Region: North Cascades -- Mount Baker Highway
Agency: Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest, Mount Baker Ranger District
Trails: Church Mountain (#671)
Avg Rating: 3.73

Drove up to the
trailhead from Everett, arrived about 9am. Weather was nice (perfect temps) but clouds blowing in from the coast limited what are probably outstanding views to Baker and Shuksan. This was my first time hiking this trail, and it was great to see it in such good shape; hardly any roots or ankle twisting rocks. Some of the trail in the upper alpine area is washing away however, so watch your footing. No snow at all on the trail, but there is some on the North face and around the 2 Kidney lakes. 8.5 mile round trip, 3800 ft. elev. gain and 6100 feet top elev. at the lookout area.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
