Avg Rating: 3.00

A steep climb up to the
lakes. The bugs were unrelenting. I climbed up on the side of what I believe was Yellow Aster Butte to camp next to a patch of snow hoping the heights and breeze would thin out the bugs. No luck. They buzzed my tent at 10:30 when I went to sleep and were still there at 4:00 am when I awoke to see the sunrise and the stray meteor. Don't even think of trying this hike without repelent. The next morning I climbed Tomyhoi - and yes, those last few steps are pretty steep. Were the views worth the bugs' Yes, but I would wait until September try it knowing how many zillion of bugs await.
