Hike: Mount Higgins
Region: North Cascades -- Mountain Loop Highway
Agency: DNR & Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Darrington Ranger District
Trails: Mount Higgins (#640)
Avg Rating: 2.75

Great hike this time
of year, lots of fall color and the recent rains have caused a lot of mushroom activity. Several large trees down but easy to get under or over. The lookout is no longer standing. My only complaint is the lack of signage for both the logging road and the trail head make finding the trail for the 1st time a challange even with green trail and road maps.

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
