Getting there: Drive U.S. 2 east just past Skykomish and turn north on to F.S. 6066. The trail: My M-O-O-N, Mark and I started out around 9:30 in the morning. The day began innocently enough up the old logging road in maybe only 5 t 6 inches of snow. Well eventually it turned into more like 5 to 6 feet of snow! The powder was deep and the route relentless (the southwest ridge of Beckler). The day was arduous but well worth the effort it took to get to the summit. We arrived just below the summit around 2:30 where we had a little picnic before contemplating the final ascent to the top! Luckily we all decided to leave our packs at our picnic spot and try one last time for the peak the effort was rewarded with an almost 360 degree view of hundreds of mountains, the most impressive being a silhouette of the north face of Mt. Baring! Minus the tough going this was a great day! We actually should have stayed out longer because we were rewarded with an extended sit in traffic on the way home, not real big fun! Take care! See ya on the trail, Pilar!
