I couldn't very well have two days off during the middle of the week and not go backbacking (especially since I hadn't been in a while). The Olympics were calling my name, so I headed over there late Thursday, expecting to take a couple days hiking the Dungeness, but found it inexcessable (the roads were closed due to some major washouts). So I travelled south and landed on the Dosewallips. I'm glad I did- as it was a greast trip. Not too many people, and no wildlife to worry about (despite some rangers worries of bears spotted in previous weeks). Still some beautiful meadows with flowers in bloom (sorry I don't know names). Met a hiker who suggested I go up to Lost Pass (since the trail was snow covered further up the trail at Thousand Acres). So, I camped at Bear Camp (which was partly covered with blow downs), and got up early to experience the views up at Lost Pass. Good thing I met him, because this was a sight not to miss. The trail was not in great shape (several blow downs and some snow in parts), but well worth the effort. I was blessed with clear skies and 180 degrees of montain views. I only wished I had more than two days to spend in this georgous wilderness. It was definitely a long trek back the second day....

On my way back I passed some men hard at work repairing the trail, so by now it should be trouble free. I hope you too have good luck with the weather god...!
