Hike: Twin Sisters Lakes
Region: South Cascades -- Chinook Pass - Enumclaw or Hwy 410 area
Agency: Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forests, Naches Ranger District
Trails: Twin Sisters (#980)
Avg Rating: 2.86

Left the Deep Creek trailhead for the Twin Sister lakes and beyond. Trail and most of surrounding environs is free of snow all the way to Frying Pan Lake. Upon reaching little Twin Sister Lake, the mosquitoes become unbearable. The area is covered by shallow snow melt ponds and marsh areas which provide fertile breeding grounds for the voracious insects. We intended to spend several nights but were driven out the first day. Even the summit of Mt. Tumac was heavily occupied by enemy forces according to a fellow traveler. Nice area; try it in September after the first freeze.
