Be Aware Of
Blowdowns
Overgrown

Trail from Wilderness Boundry (beyound the brushy part) has a few blowdowns and is snow free to the 5400 foot knob (nice meadow and views here). From knob to meadow at 5050 feet (water available) trail is 50% snow covered. From here the trail up the last 800 foot of meadow to old lookout site is marginal, with first 400 feet obscure to non-existent. Trail can again be gained above this as it switchbacks below ridge crest to site.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
