We walked the Cape Alava / Sand Point Loop on a dry Saturday. I have not been out there in 20 years, so I was curious what I would remember (not too much other than the rocks and boardwalk). I did forget how the beach walk was not easy on the feet!
There was an annual clean up effort for the weekend which we did not know about until we saw folks lugging burlap bags full of garbage up and down the beach. One lady (we nicknamed her the buoy lady) carried out about a dozen fishing buoys attached to herself. She sounded like a windchime!
There were about 55 cars in the parking lot, but lots of open campspots. Relativley peaceful hike even though some youth groups were out. Trail / boardwalks were in fine shape and easy to walk on.
We saw seals and lots of the usual birds and some eagles. No whale spouts or many other interesting birds visible.
