I liked Lake Ann so much that I and three of my fellow teachers did this hike as a day hike. We were extremely fortunate with regard to the weather as the clouds broke at about 1:30 and it stayed nice until about 4:00. A little wind did a lot to keep the bugs away. It was amazing to see how much snow had melted in just three days. Lake Ann is an outstanding destination for anyone interested in photography. It was particularly spectacular today because of the clouds blowing across Shuksan and spots of sun shining on the glaciers. Constantly changing light provided many photographic possibilities. This is a hike that can easily be done in a couple hours with full packs. With day packs, it was closer to 1 and 3/4 hours with a lunch stop. For a week day, there were quite a few people but nearly all of them were day hikers. I wish that Lake Ann was not a three hour drive from Bellevue. . .
