Snow on trail

We did an icicle ridge to 4th of July Trail traverse. We hit snow 2000' above the trailhead and stayed in snow until we'd dropped back below 4000' AGL. Don't forget your snowshoes and ski-poles. It's a very pleasant trip, but we estimate almost 7000' of gain and 14 miles. The snow in the 4th of July creek drainage is heavy and slushy - total slop. The snow along the ridge top is pretty good.

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
