Yes, it was a lot of work, but what a great trip! Seven hours after leaving the parking lot, we arrrived at Snow Lake. We took our time along the trail to enjoy the diverse scenery (first burnt forest, then goats, then creekside forest, then granite... Camping at Snow Lake was lovely but busy - the established campsites are very exposed to the trail.
Snow Lake to Leprechaun Lake took almost four hours. It's very steep, we were on all fours at times. But once we arrived at the lakes we became energized by the amazing beauty. Gorgeous weather, the Larch trees are beginning to turn and the goats were friendly without being pests. 26 degees in the morning!
A quick hike up to Aaguard Pass had us all in giants smiles - we'd never been anyplace as gorgeous! We passed lots of lakes and hikers but the trail is pristine and in great shape.
Moved back down to Snow Lake for the 3rd night to give our knees a break on the way out. We woke to snow!
Can't wait to do it again next summer and spend a few extra days exploring.
