Car camped at the Church Mountain Trailhead, just to see where it was. There is no overnight parking allowed at Heather Meadows. Woke up at 4:30am and drove to Artist Point, and hiked up and down the Artist Ridge Trail at about 6:00am. That is where the Baker pic was taken from. Hiked the Chain Lakes Loop. Found that there is a shortcut when you get to the Bagley Lake Trailhead. Rather than walking the three miles up 542 back to Artist Point, you walk 542 until the Bagley Lake Picnic Area, and then head up the Wild Goose Trail. It is probably half the distance, but very steep. Could not believe that it was only 11:30am when I reached the car at Artist Point. But there was a lot of level and downhill hiking too. I had begun at about 7:00am. The views of Baker and Shuksan throughout this hike are fantastic. Should have waited a few hours to take the pic at picture Lake of Shuksan, but a cheeseburger and fries were calling.
