Trout Lake

Got to the trailhead at 12:30 and the parking lot was packed. The hike to Trout Lake (1.5 miles) was easy and the view was nice. After that it was a long journey to Copper Lake (2.5 miles with a bunch of elevation gain), what a workout! Plus it was a very hot afternoon. Giant waterfall view on the way to Copper. The view of Copper Lake was very rewarding, worth all the effort. Overall, nice hike, highly recommended. 4.5 hours car to car.

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
