The WTA is doing fantastic work improving drainage on this trail, which like many old road beds is prone to water runoff and erosion. Drainage problems exist all the way to the old Bullitt Fireplace site, so I hope that the crews can make it up there given the limited number of work days left. Fallen maple leaves add a beautiful touch of color to this trail right now.
The May Valley Trail drops down from the Bullitt Access Trail to connect with the Perimeter Trail. This trail is crudely constructed and could use some major work in the future. Still, I enjoy hiking it and enjoy the adventurous feeling of following this rough, little used path.
The Perimeter Trail is in good shape, having been worked on by the WTA a few years ago. Near the west end of the Perimeter Trail, there is a great viewpoint ( the best on Squak Mountain) accessible by a short side path. Reportedly, this viewpoint is on private land and that someone is going to build their dream mansion on it. But there is no sign of that happening yet.
The Chybinski Trail is also in good shape. Could use some drain dips here and there.
