Signs are wonderful things that best appreciated when they aren't there. On my way to Anderson Butte, I watched two gentlemen mistake an abandoned road for the trail. After steering them back onto the trail I joined them in their confusion about which trail led up the butte. There is one sign at the first turn, but a hundred yards later there is another spur trail intersection that had us all guessing. The right trail is the right trail.

Aside from that, the trail was in excellent shape. The weather was foggy but after a wait at the summit enough lifted to reveal Baker and Watson. One persistent cloud obscured Shuksan as long as I was there, but it cleared away too by the time I drove out.

There is still plenty of blueberry bear scat, but with two dozen cars and about a dozen dogs, I didn't spot any wildlife bigger than a squirrel.

It was fascinating to imagine that within two months the whole area will be under snow. Very cool.
