Goat Lake #647
Oct 28, 2007
- Type of Outing
- Day hike
3rd. ""test"" of John Zilly's guide.
Since Mnt. Loop Hw now is open ,driving from Granite Falls was easy.Dirt road part fine. From TH we decided to do Upper Elliot going up,and Lower E. going home.Upper was perfect.Old road.Easy elevation gain. After intersecting with Lower E,the trail had stretches of everything.: creekbeds, washouts, avalanche areas, excellent surface, roots etc.At the lake we followed an unofficial trail 1/2 way down the lake.Stopped when too brushy.
Lower Elliot going home was a little overgrown in streches.Long periodes of really nice trail.Hooked up to Upper E. 1/4 mile prior to P-lot.Met 15 people.P-lot full when we returned.
Hiking/driving directions and info was like for the 2 hikes yesterday: THE BEST.
10 miles 1700 feet
