The trips starts, 1700 feet, with a 3.25 mile walk on the closed Carbon River road to the Green Lake trailhead, 2100 feet. The damage section, about 4/10ths of mile, has a nice new trail next to the damaged road.

The Green Lake trail is not very steep gaining 1100 feet in 2 miles. If you like big trees, nurse logs, moss covered ground with many ferns and other green foliage; this is enjoyable, magical trail. After a mile, is the side trail (100 feet) to a viewpoint of Ranger Falls. A short mile later you arrive at Green Lake, 3200 feet. The trail was mostly snow free, except the last 1/2 mile to the lake. There is about 2 inches of snow at Green Lake

Trip stats: ~10 miles with 1700 feet elevation gain.
