Horan Natural Area - Wenatchee Confluence State Park

After hiking up Horse Lake Mountain I stopped in Wenatchee to stretch the legs a bit and enjoy the Horan Natural Area trails in Wenatchee Confluence State Park, over the footbridge on the south side of the Wenatchee River from the main park entrance area.

Great interpretive stops throughout the area and this time of year, birding is a great reward here! In just my 1.5 hours spent slowly roaming not at the peak time of day, I still managed to spot:

Osprey

American Kestrel

Canada Goose

American Wigeon

Mallard

Wood Duck

Mourning Dove

Belted Kingfisher

White-crowned Sparrow (literally 100's of them!)

Red-winged Blackbird

Yellow-headed Blackbird

Brown-headed Cowbird

Robin

Northern Flicker

Hairy Woodpecker

California Quail

Starling

Stellar Jay

Black-throated Gray Warbler

some species of Flycatcher, another of a Vireo, which I wasn't quick enough to I.D.

Muskrat sightings as well.

A great location worth the visit in each season of the year while in Wenatchee!
