Just off SR 119 ice cycles were forming over Big Creek in Olympic National Forest. The movement of the water added to the stationary ice cycles for an interesting subject. Nikon 7000, Nikon 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens.

Lijuan Guo, grand prize winner of WTA's 2012 Northwest Exposure photo contest loves snowshoeing and winter camping on Mount Baker. She took this photo in early summer on the still-snowy slopes of Artist Point. To capture the stars of the Milky Way, she used her Nikon D800 with a 14–24 mm wide-angle lens and a timed, long exposure at ISO 1600. She adjusted color temperature in post-processing.
