Meet Guidebook Author Joan Burton
Get ready for the hiking season. Meet Joan Burton, author of Best Hikes with Kids Western Washington and The Cascades. Joan will discuss the goals and challenges of hiking with kids, share tips and tricks as well as her favorite day hikes with little ones.

April 27 Jefferson County Library, Port Hadlock - 6:30pm (Activities for kids provided in the Children's Room)
Hiking with Children Workshop
WTA will discuss safety tips, tricks to keep kids moving down the trail, and review some great books to inspire both parents and kids to get outdoors. This workshop will have something for families new to hiking as well those experienced hikers. You will leave the workshop with resources in hand, eager to hit the trail and explore all of the amazing beauty Washington has to offer.

National Trails Day- June 5
WTA will be working with volunteers of all ages in seven different locations across the state to maintain trails. Join a work party, bring your family and see what a difference you can make.
National Get Outdoors Day- June 12
National Get Outdoors Day is a new annual event to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun. Participating partners will offer opportunities for American families to experience traditional and non-traditional types of outdoor activities. Prime goals of the day are reaching first-time visitors to public lands and reconnecting our youth to the great outdoors. To learn more click here.
