Romancing the coast
What could be more romantic than huddling in a tent on the wilderness
coast in the middle of a downpour? I'm serious. There's nothing like an
early spring overnight to add a little warmth to a relationship.
As Kim Brown writes in the March 2006 issue of Washington Trails, Toleak Point in Olympic National Park is full of things to experience with your significant other: otters on the beach, evening campfires, windswept rocky shoreline, and plenty of seabirds. Headland trails are muddy, and you'll need a tide table to plan your hike, but the wet early spring is a great excuse to snuggle up in the Hubba Hubba.
What's your favorite romantic hike for early spring? Walking the beach? Watching waterfalls? The view from Mount Si? Share your favorites.
