Plan to sell off federal lands scuttled

Posted by Andrew Engelson at May 12, 2006 05:00 PM |
According to a report in a Montana newspaper, a Montana congressman has helped kill legislation that would have sold off 300,000 acres of federal land to pay for a rural schools program. That's welcome news for those interested in keeping public lands owned by the public.

In other news, 8th district representative Dave Reichert has secured money in the federal budget for a small but necessary expansion of Mount Rainier National Park in the Carbon River area.
