North Fork Sauk Road Opening Tomorrow

Forest Road #49, on the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest's Darrington Ranger District is scheduled for official reopening! It has been closed for more than a year, requiring hikers and climbers seeking the North Fork Sauk, Pilot Ridge and Round Lake trails to road walk or bike seven miles.
Also known as the North Fork Sauk Road, Forest Road #49 had suffered a washout that necessitated repair and significant culvert replacement. The District replaced several culverts from milepost 0 to milepost 7, which should make the road much less prone to washouts.
With the possible exception of the North Fork Sauk, these trails are still likely under quite a bit of snow and haven't received regular maintenance for a season-and-a-half. They'll be more pleasant in a few weeks. So add them to your list for August!
