Common Membership Questions

Answers to common questions about membership: Is my membership in Washington Trails Association tax-deductible? When will my membership be due for renewal? Where can I find my membership number? How can I ensure that my personal information is kept private? I've moved. How do I change my address so that I will continue to receive Washington Trails magazine and other member benefits? I'd like to make a stock donation to WTA. Where can I find the information on how to do that?

Do you have a question about your Washington Trails Association membership or a question about making a donation to WTA?  Find the answers to commonly asked questions below.

Q.  Is my membership in Washington Trails Association tax-deductible?

A.  Yes. WTA is a 501c3 non-profit organization and your contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You may deduct the amount of your gift to WTA that is greater than the value of goods and services, as shown on your gift receipt. Please feel free to contact us regarding the tax deductibility of your donation at kara@wta.org

Q.  When will my membership be due for renewal?

A.  Your membership will be due for renewal twelve months after you make a membership gift. WTA will send you a renewal notice two months in advance of your expiration date. As a reminder, your magazine mailing label will list your membership expiration month. You may also renew your membership at any time that is convenient to you and WTA will advance your membership expiration date one year.

Are there different ways to become a WTA member or renew my membership?

Q.  Where can I find my membership number?

A.  Your membership number is found on your magazine mailing label and may also be on your gift acknowledgment.

Q.  At what age do I qualify for senior membership?

A.  There is no specific age requirement. If you would like to take advantage of the discounted membership rate, please do so!

Q.  How can I ensure that my personal information is kept private?

A.  Your personal information will never be sold, but WTA does occasionally (no more than three times per year) trade mailing lists with organizations of a similar intent and purpose in an effort to grow our membership base. To avoid having your name and address ever traded, simply check the “do not trade my contact information” box when you join WTA or renew your WTA membership, or call this request in to our office at any time at (206) 625-1367. You can also email your preference to membership@wta.org.*

Q.  I've moved or my personal information has changed. How do I make sure that I will continue to receive Washington Trails magazine and other member benefits?

A.  Click here to report a new address, email, or other personal information.  You may also send your request by email to membership@wta.org; or send a postcard or note with your new contact information to the WTA office at:  705 Second Ave., Suite 100, Seattle, WA 98104.

Q.  Does WTA accept matching gifts?

A.  Yes. Ask your human resources director for information about the program where you work.

Q.  Does WTA accept stock donations?

A.  Yes. To learn more, click here.

Q.  I'd like to give through my workplace. What is WTA's workplace giving code?

A.  Click here to learn more about workplace giving and find your correct workplace giving code.

Q.  My membership renewal form lists different giving levels than what appears on the WTA website. Can I use my old form?

A.  Yes. We recently updated our membership levels and will honor all membership levels and benefits through December 2013.
