WTA's Hike-A-Thon

This August, each mile you hike could be helping out the very trails you love to explore! As a Hike-A-Thon participant, or by sponsoring a participating hiker, you can help WTA to keep our hiking trails in the very best shape possible.

HOW WTA's HIKE-A-THON WORKS

Participants register for the event and set two goals - the miles they want to hike in one month and the amount of money they want to raise for WTA.

With their fundraising goal in mind, participants start contacting their friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, hiking partners and anybody who owes you a favor. 25 cents a mile, $1 a mile...the pledges begin to roll in.

As they fundraise, Hike-A-Thon participants can work toward earning a few handy pieces of hiking gear. Check out the list of prizes: hike-a-thon awards

Starting August 1st, participants begin to track all the miles that they are hiking. Every mile on a named trail counts!

When the month is over and they have hiked all that they can hike, participants contact their sponsors to let them know their total miles hiked, collect any outstanding pledges and send it all in to WTA.

At WTA, all the mileage logs are inspected and everyone who contributed is thanked. We figure out who's come out on top in each of the award categories and then we throw a little party to celebrate!
