Hungry Hikers: Hikers Pick Their Favorite After-Hike Grub
The results of Washington Trails Association's very first Hungry Hikers poll are in!
We asked you--the hikers of Washington--to vote for your favorite places for fueling up before and after you hit the trail. And vote
you did.
You voted for your favorites: including greasy burgers, creamy shakes,
and piping hot pizza--even Indian food, espresso and the perfect
pre-hike breakfast.
Thanks to all who voted, and to those who made additional suggestions. Below, you'll find links to our poll winners and a Google map to each establishment. So next time you're out hiking a gorgeous alpine high country trail, be sure to stop in and chow down! And let them know that you heard about their business in WTA's Hungry Hikers poll.
Later this summer we'll publish a more complete guide--online and in Washington Trails magazine. We'll list all the top spots, and some lesser-known favorites--from burger joints to ice cream parlors to brew pubs.
So, without further ado, here are the 2009 Hungry Hikers Awards, as chosen by Washington hikers in search of for the best before- and after-hike grub:
