Falling for waterfalls
Spring is a prime
time to see waterfalls, and this month's feature in
Washington Trails offers several suggestions for this time of year,
including Boulder
River, Wallace
Falls, and the great collection of falls along the Lewis
River Trail. Check here for more waterfall suggestions.
And if you're into waterfalls, do yourself a favor and check out Bryan
Swan's amazing database of Northwest waterfalls here. Or, next weekend, on Earth Day, Sat Apr. 22, join WTA for the first of its Wildland Discovery Hikes. We'll take a 12-mile round trip hike to Otter Falls up the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road. In addition to being treated to marvelous scenery, you'll get a chance to learn about all the issues surrounding the Forest Service's plans to convert some of the Mid Fork Road to trail. WTA advocacy director Jonathan Guzzo will be leading the trip, and he'll regale you with tales of environmental assessments (EA), access travel management plans (ATMP) and all sorts of other fun acronyms!
(Actually, Jonathan can actually make trails policy really interesting, so I encourage you to check this trip out...you'll know your NOVA from your NEPA when you're through..).
