The holidays are right around the corner, so here are few more gift
ideas that help support wild lands and trails:
This year, a group
of trail runners in Washington has created a beautiful and fun wall
calendar about their sport. Proceeds from the sales of these
calendars, which are just $12.50, benefit WTA. Click here
for a list of stores selling the calendar. Or order online from Zombie
Runner. Thanks to Glenn Tachiyama for creating this calendar to
help support all the work WTA does on trails!
If you're looking for music as a gift, The Mountain 103.7-FM has created a CD of live music that benefits The Wilderness Society. The CD includes tracks by David Gray, Feist, Death Cab for Cutie, and Brandi Carlile and is available online and at select Starbucks stores in the Seattle-Tacoma area.
And the new Washington
Trails Association t-shirts look fantastic and are great for
hiking. Made of wicking material rather than cotton, they'll keep you
warm and dry during the hiking season. And the shirt is illustrated
with an exclusive "digital block print" image by local artist Roy
Hughes. Roy's style is reminiscent of the old WPA-era posters promoting
the National Park Service during the 1930s and 40s, but he uses digital
technology to achieve this unique look. Roy served as
artist-in-residence at Glacier National Park in the summer of 2006, and
we're fortunate to have such a talented artist donating his work to
support WTA. Click here for
an article on Roy's art inspired by the outdoors, and visit his website, which has a
large selection of holiday cards and posters for sale.
