Yoga Toes, like having a massage therapist stowed in your pack
When I opened the package containing my Yoga Toes, Washington Trails Editor Andrew Engelson nearly fell out of his chair laughing. He said, “what ARE those things?”, to which I mumbled, “something for sore feet.”
I was kind of embarrassed, the Yoga Toes have a very “as seen on TV”, or “found in the back pages of a fitness magazine” sort of look to them. I think I first saw them advertised… in the back pages of a fitness magazine. I was intrigued — I thought they looked like Yoga Toes could actually work as advertised. They claim to increase strength and flexibility to toes, feet, and lower legs, as well as expediting recovery time after activity. The way they work is simple: wiggle toes into slots in the squishy Yoga Toes, then relax and let them do their work. You can’t walk around with them on, so I typically used them while working at my computer. At first, they were somewhat uncomfortable, but my feet got used to them, and yes, they do work as advertised. I especially notice significantly diminished recovery times after abusing my feet at sports or work.
At $47, they seem awfully expensive for a therapy toy, but there’s value there; they are guaranteed for life should they become damaged through normal use, they are made in the USA, and with FDA-approved materials. (You might also look in the back of fitness magazines or on the Internet for $15 off coupons.) Imagine pulling off your boots deep in the backcountry, rinsing your feet off in bracingly cold stream water, and popping on some Yoga Toes. I’ll be doing just that this summer!
