TrailsFest - Not Coming Soon
Each summer, for many years now, thousands of outdoor enthusiasts have gathered on the shores of Rattlesnake Lake in mid-July for TrailsFest. Over the years, it has been WTA's great pleasure to host TrailsFest and we have strived to create a better event each summer. If you have ever attended, volunteered or presented, thank you for being part of this great event!
Unfortunately, Washington Trails Association will not be hosting TrailsFest this coming summer. It's not because we didn't enjoy seeing so many hikers. It's not because it wasn't a ton of fun. Really, nothing beats a sunny day with hiking and climbing and kayaking and pack goats!
We simply had to make some tough decisions about the best use of our time and effort at a time when resources are scarce. TrailsFest came about before WTA had a volunteer program. It was around before WTA had a website. (No link needed - you are already here). It certainly predates our twitter feed. We're doing a lot of new and different things these days, and so, as we examined all of our programs for the coming year, we came to the reluctant conclusion that our staff time could be better spent using other outreach and communications tools to reach out to hikers.
If you need suggestions about what to do with that Saturday in July, now that you won't be at TrailsFest, we just happen to have a few ideas. You can find them here: Hiking Guide.
