Who's the Next Leader of WTA?
For the past six and a half years as Washington Trails Association's Communications and Outreach Director, I've held one of the coolest jobs in Washington state. I come to work each day motivated by a deep love of the outdoors and inspired by the passion of WTA members and volunteers to protect and maintain our hiking trails. And if you were to ask any of my colleagues here at WTA what brings them into the office or out onto the trail each day, I'll bet you'd hear the same.

- Look at those happy hikers! Most of the staff of WTA enjoyed a recent hike in the Glacier Peak Wilderness during a staff retreat to Holden Village. Note the group size of twelve complies with Wilderness group size guidelines (the camera was on a timer!)
WTA is a pretty incredible organization to work for. The community of dedicated, passionate people involved, from its membership to its staff to its Board of Directors to its volunteer base, are what makes it so strong.
Washington Trails Association's Board is currently looking for WTA's next leader. After a decade of strong leadership and growth at WTA, Elizabeth Lunney is resigning from her position as Executive Director. When Elizabeth started in 1998 she was one of three paid staff and most programs were run by volunteers. Today volunteers and members are supported by a highly-effective staff team, and new partnerships are extending WTA’s reach in the community. Thanks to Elizabeth’s service and leadership, WTA has become a trusted and vital partner to land managers, a more effective voice for the hiking community, and an essential resource for all of us who want to explore Washington’s beautiful wild places.
Our next Executive Director must have a deep love of the outdoors and a strong desire to share the benefits of that experience with the citizens of Washington state. We seek a passionate individual who can embody and effectively communicate the importance of WTA's work.
The next Executive Director of WTA will take the helm of a vibrant, growing, respected organization. We seek an individual with proven leadership skills who can continue to grow and strengthen WTA. The new ED will lead a collaborative, high functioning team in fulfilling WTA’s mission.
