Whether you just discovered our website or are a long-time WTA member, your financial support this season can make a real difference for the hiking community.

I hope you’ll consider making a tax-deductible gift to WTA by April 30. We must raise $16,000 this spring to keep your favorite trails open this summer and beyond.

Here are a few examples of how we’ll use your contribution:

  • $20-40 helps maintain your favorite trail. WTA will lead 260 volunteer work parties between now and July 1. By year's end, we'll have completed the equivalent of 750 days of trail work! We couldn't do it without the hard work of volunteers or the financial support of hikers like you. Your gift will buy personalized hard hats for one or two volunteers who complete 5+ work parties with WTA.
  • $52 provides a first aid kit for a volunteer trail crew. WTA’s guiding principles of “be safe, have fun and get some work done” ensure that our youth and adult volunteers get the job done right and keep returning to do more.
  • $85 helps protect your favorite wilderness trail. We face a $24 million maintenance backlog on national forest and wilderness trails in Washington. We'll use your gift to speak up for hikers as we work with our Congressional delegation and the Forest Service to secure increased federal recreation funding.
  • $100 helps 1,200 people go hiking! Support from people like you have helped make this website the state’s premiere resource for both novice and experienced hikers. Last fall, thanks to a partnership with Mountaineers Books, we added more than 600 guidebook entries for some of Washington’s best-loved hikes, and since then we've added snowshoe routes and desert hikes. We’ll use your gift to help power our online Hiking Guide, with its 900+ trail descriptions and 27,000 trip reports.
  • $250 trains two volunteer crew leaders. Your gift sends two volunteers to WTA’s Crew Leader College. Each April, this two-day event sets a national standard for volunteer training. Crew leaders learn the best techniques for trail repair and maintenance as well as new trail construction. They head back into the field with new skills to help them train, motivate and ensure the safety of our 2,000 youth and adult volunteers.

I hope we can count on your support to get the trails ready for summer and beyond. Every dollar you give will make it possible for thousands of volunteers to join in our efforts.

Please give now and help us reach our $16,000 goal by April 30. Thank you!
