Join or Renew during the month of May and be entered to win great hiking gear!

Are you a hiker who values well-maintained hiking trails, likes the handy features of Washington Trails Association’s website, and wants to give back to trails you love? Well, there’s never been a better time to join (or renew) than right now.    

WTA’s volunteers are putting in more than 80,000 hours each year, our website and magazine have just been re-designed to be more useful and easier to navigate and our advocacy efforts are reaching more and more concerned hikers.

And, did we mention that all month long we’re giving away a ton of hiking gear?

Outdoor Research, MSR, REI and The Mountaineers Books all support WTA and they hope you will, too. As an enticement to join WTA and great way to gear up for a summer full of adventures, the entire month of May will be sweepstakes central as WTA gives away fabulous gear guaranteed to become favorite items for long days on the trail.

New members may join WTA online, over the phone or by mailing in a check. Any way you join, you will become eligible to win. WTA will draw for a new winner each Thursday from May 8 to June 5 and announce the winners in the Friday editions of WTA’s Signpost blog.

Want to know what’s up for grabs?  Here’s the run-down on the gear you could win:

• Drawing One, May 8: a DownMat 7 Deluxe from Outdoor Research
• Drawing Two, May 15: an Outdoor Research Women’s Aspire or Men’s Foray jacket
• Drawing Three, May 22: an Outdoor Research Women’s Aspire or Men’s Foray jacket

Each new member of WTA will continue to be eligible to win gear throughout the weekly drawings until they win or the sweepstakes ends, whichever comes first. For the best chance to win, prospective members should join early when there will be fewer names in the drawings and when each subsequent week will bring another chance to win.

Renewing Members Can Win Gear Too!

There’s good news for current supporters of WTA, too. Any member renewing their support during the month of May will be entered to win gear donated by MSR and Therm-A-Rest. If your membership isn't due this month, you can still renew and a year will be added to your membership.

These winners will be drawn in the final gear drawing on June 5.

• One lucky member will be spending the summer in MSR’s new 2-person ElbowRoom tent.
