Volunteer Vacations 2010 - Locations

Volunteer Vacations were great

Due to the outstanding efforts of Washington Trails Association's volunteers, more than 100,000 hours of trail maintenance was accomplished in 2010.

While the hours are important, the 250 volunteers who participated on an adult Volunteer Vacation this year would probably talk even more about how great it was to be outside on a beautiful trail, meeting new people, while giving back to the trails we all enjoy.

In 2010, WTA fielded 29 such trips, performing more than 20,000 hours of trail maintenance on trails all across the state. From rebuilding the Hoh River Trail in Olympic National Park to working the trails around Lake Chelan's Holden Village, our crews had another fabulous year doing what they do so well - taking care of trails that take us to amazing places. Check out all of the locations on the map below.

What did they do? These hardy volunteers built bridges, removed trees that had fallen across the trail, rebuilt damaged trails, and provided necessary brushing and drainage work. Sparkling lakes, snow-capped mountains, massive trees and delightful streams provided the backdrop for these adventures.

But you don’t need to wait till summer to help out on trails - we are working all year round on a trail near you.
Look for the new Volunteer Vacation schedule to be posted on January 31. Sign-ups will begin on February 7.
