    Going hiking? Hunting season for many game birds kicked off on Sept. 1 throughout Washington. Hikers should be aware of hunting seasons and take precautions to stay safe.

    • Park Butte, Railroad Grade, North Cascades. "The trail is in fine condition. There were hordes of people. Lots of berries. Good fall foliage." Jason Racey - 10.02.08
    • Thomas Lake, South Cascades. "Brilliant scarlet and purple huckleberry leaves and scads of juicy, ripe berries highlighted this 9.7-mile loop hike." Sunrise Creek - 10.01.08
