What a difference a day makes! If you saw the snowy pictures from March 22, you'd be amazed. We saw bits of snow here and there, but today had temps in the 50's with a very light breeze, and lots of sun! My 11 year old son and I did the lollipop loop. No issues on the trail along the bluff. The views were wonderful. We took the switchbacks down the bluff, at the north end of the spit. The trail info says to cut down (and through the switchbacks), but we kept going, and then did the three switchbacks. Less steep, and I'm sure better for all concerned. We took the trail along the west side of Peregos Lake. This is easy to follow, although it's underwater in a few spots. I prefer it to walking the beach the entire way. No other items of note...the trail is very clear and well maintained.

Beware of: snow conditions

A very cold and snowy late March day at Ebey's Landing. The road down to the beach was dicey with the snow and so we parked up by the cemetery. Watched the local pair of Bald Eagles grab lunch out of the fields - the snow didn't seem to hamper their hunting skills.

It was such a beautiful day so I decided to go on a second hike. After hiking around Fidalgo Island at Whistle Lake outside of Antacortes, I head down Whidbey Island to Ebey's Historical Landing outside of Coupeville Washington. This trail has one of the best views of Pudget Sound. This trail is about 4 to 6 miles based on how far you hike but beware that at the far end after passing by Perego's Lagoon down below you will descend down a step hill to the beach and then hike back the beach to the parking lot. It is not that hard for people who have good balance but just be aware of it for very young children and the elderly. I promise that you will enjoy this hike especially on a sunny day. The views are spectacular and the beach is always nice to walk along. I will admit that it is mostly rock though. You will not see hardly any sand to walk on some you will get a good workout on the way back to the parking lot. If you choose just turnaround on the bluff trail and go back the way you came if you are not interested in stomping through the rock along the beach. Checkout the video of this hike or over 260 other trails I have hiked in Washington State or click on this direct link to this hike below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ENIFxUgOWo&feature=youtu.be P.S. Sorry I have a cold so my video is kind of annoying. As always get out and see this beautiful state and enjoy your hiking!! Take Care Mike

If there is a more beautiful coastal hike in this state, I want to know about it. The trail is in great condition, dry and clear. Had my 11 month old on my back and he loved the trail. Great picnic spots along the trail as well.

First time I hiked this so I bundled up with a winter sweater and jacket thinking a cold wind would be blowing off the water, but I didn't need it today. Started out at 10:45am, short hike to the blockhouse and homestead. The road gradually turns into a trail with great views. With it being partly cloudy today there was some great effects of the sun on the water. The trail continues near the top of the bluffs with outstanding views. I hiked to the point where the trail goes down to the beach, but didn't hike the full loop. On the way back it was getting very warm and the bugs were even starting come out, couldn't believe it was the 1st of February. Great winter hike and really enjoyed it and will be back to hike this again.
