What a fun loop! The trail is in great condition with lots of well constructed bridges and benches. Mountains peak through the trees and a side hike that takes you creekside to enjoy waterfalls. The campground and facilities are closed - stop at Potlatch State Park to use the portables they have set up - and the parking lot outside the gate is small. Add about .2 miles to get to the trailhead. And don't forget to add a rock to the tree stump at the top. Great hike! Will definitely be doing this one again.

We arrived around 9:00 am on the Monday holiday and got the last of the actual parking spots (only 3?). When we finished there were cars parked pretty much anywhere they could fit, still only about 10-12 cars were there. The trail was in great condition for this time of year. There was not a single tree to step over or a puddle of water to go around.

The trail is well maintained! It is a workout with the incline. So pretty though!! Look for the troll under one of the bridges and the stump that has rocks on it from hikers. There is a sign for a viewpoint... it saids a mile but I think it was more. All uphill but so worth it!! You come to a view of Lake Cushman. Nice little area to sit and take a break. It is marked viewpoint so watch for that sign. I didn't take the creek confluence access trails. Glad I didn't because I would have missed a pretty waterfall. Restrooms aren't open right now but there is a park off of 101 with restrooms before Hoodsport coming from the south. I recommend this hike!!

Trail was in great shape. Either way you go all the elevation is made in one push to near the mid point. I went clockwise. It seems that most of that half is an old road? It climbs at a steady grade from “Dicks Rock” to the junction with the Mt. Elinor trail.
The down half was pleasant crossing “Big Creek” and several other smaller streams.
There are a number of nice benches along the entire loop. I did take the short spur to see the confluence.
A very pleasant, moderate loop. I can imagine it is very busy on weekends and during the summer when the campground is open.

Great quick wi tee day hike. The trail is well maintained and dry. Interesting creek crossings all on relatively new bridges. We didn’t have kids with us today but it would be a super hike for kids. The climb is steady but not too steep. Campground is closed for the season so it’s a very short walk in to the trailhead. We logged 5.1 miles round trip from the car.
