I have wanted to get up this way for a very long time. This hike did not disappoint. We followed the suggestions of others and went to Bridal Veil Falls on the way up. It is gorgeous and worth the extra distance. Once you start climbing up to the lake the trail is rocky and lots of tree roots to manage. Coming down was a little hard on the old knees and I was thankful for pools. As you may already know, this trail is popular so there was a lot of stopping and waiting for groups going up and down. If possible, try going on a weekday as I can only imagine what it is like on a weekend.
The lake and surrounding mountains/slopes are breathtaking. We enjoyed lunch in the sun next to the lake for longer than I typically stay at the top of a hike because it was that nice!
We did have a dog on the hike and there are plenty of streams for the four legged friends.

This little hike is a waterfall lovers dream! There is the Big One, the medium one, which is below the long bridge crossing and several small ones along the trail. Lots has been said about this trail, so briefly, there are some stream crossings that are not difficult, but do require a bit of thought and your boots might get a bit wet. The trail to the Overlook is steep, rocky and rooty with lots of water in places. My hiking buddy got weary of the rocks and turned around, but I kept going to the view. Once back to the intersection we opted to eat lunch at the base of the falls where the trail crosses it on its way up the Serene Stairmaster to the lake. We had opted not to attempt the lake today, but we still got a nice little hike. Lots of trillium, salmonberry, yellow violets and some spring beauty starting to open. Loos locked, plan accordingly. There is a garbage can right by the gated road PLEASE USE IT, you dog poo bags need to go HERE and NOT on the trail, seriously there was one w/in 5 ft of the can, how lazy can you get?
