Early MON 18mar2024 morning, i went to Kenmore WA for a walkabout.
Planned to psrk in Log Boom Park, hut the Entrance-Gate wasn't open when i arrived at ~06:35. As such i turned-around and drove ~200 ft (from Log Boom Park) to off street park beside the other 3 vehicles along NE 175th St (which is "bordering" Burke Gilman Tr). ~2 hours later, when i got back, i noticed there were a few additional vehicles (a few having Bike Racks) parked beside mine. myguess is that "this" stretch of NE 175th St is a popular parking for people; Cyclists, Walking. to conveniently get on the Burke Gilman Trail.
Nice cool 40s_F, partly cloudy. ~06:40 Out i went on a CCW Loop; a few roads "connectors", ~3 miles of Burke Gilman Trail, and ~0.5 mile of Tolt Pipeline Trail. Traffic was moderate on SR_522, but light and quiet on the neighborhood roads. i would assume that ~50% of the roads I walked had Sidewalks.
On BGT, encountered a total of 12x cyclists, 10x walking (+2x dogs). Only 1 person on the TPT. Everyone's friendly and courteous. And the community, town, or city where i passed/walked - e.g. Sheridan Beach, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore - were nice and clean 👍👍👍
Cheers!

MON 11mar2024 morning, ~07:30 i was in Bothell WA a walkabout. Nice cool high_40s_F, and Out i went on a CW-Loop via road-connectors and short section of the North Creek Tr, Sammamish River Tr, and Burke Gilman Tr.
Light traffic on the roads, and ~80% of the road-connectors having Pedestrian-Sidewalks. The Trails was paved. Saw "many" people walking, some with their dogs, and a few Cyclists.; anyway, it was "crowded" .. and everyone's nice and friendly. Also, the Trails, "road-connectors", and Bothell downtown were nice and clean - well-maintained.
Cheers!
(Clocked: ~6.9 miles ~2:20)
新年快乐 🐉 새해 복 많이 받으세요 ❤ шинэ оны мэнд хүргэе ❤ Happy Lunar New Year .. (i hope the translations are correct .. 😂 )
Today, SAT 10 Jan2024, beautiful weather - sunny .. And to celebrate the Lunar New Year, early this morning, i went for a walk at (WGMP) Warren G Magnuson Park and the neighborhoods.
Cool 40s_F, ~07:00, i was the 2nd to arrive and parked at the E3 parking. At the start, only a few people in WGMP. At Matthews Beach Park, i noticed there were ~10 people and 2 dogs. On Burke Gilman Trail were many Cyclists, Joggers, and Walkers - total ~50. Then when i was back in WGMP - it was a hive of activity; some people were attending to their garden in the Community Garden, some people and their dogs in the Dog Off Leash Area, some Joggers, some Walking, a few Cyclists, ..
It's nice to see so many people out-and-about .. having fun and enjoying doing their own thing 👍
My route - CW-Loop: Parking > NE 70th St > 35th Ave NE > NE 95th St > Matthews Beach Park > section of Burke Gilman Trail > WGMP > Parking.
Cheers! 😊

Why hike one of these when you can bike them all! Begin this loop anywhere along the way, I started behind Ballard Fred Meyer on the Burke Gilman. Stopped at Gasworks Park on my way to Husky Stadium.
From here, took Montlake over 520 and up 24th, to R on Interlaken Boulevard. Much of this road is off limits to vehicles, thusly the rest is little traveled, I wasn't passed by a single car. Puts you out on Roanoke, went L and across 520 to L on 10th, 2 blocks to R on Miller. Again little traffic as this becomes Harvard high above I-5.
Drops to Lakeview and I-5 Colonnade Park under the freeway. I went through and found a bunch more dirt road, putting me out at a broken gate near REI. Turned around and rode back to Lakeview, followed it to Melrose Trail, which continues above the freeway. The now protected bike lanes ended, I went R, then L on Hubble Pl. which turns into 7th. At James I went under I-5 to 6th, then down to the stadiums.
The work along the waterfront is really taking shape, will be pretty special when it's all done. Kudos to Bruce Harrell for his policies to keep the city clean, so much better than before. Took Elliott Bay Trail through the waterfront parks, Interbay, back to Ballard.
Very little elevation gain/loss, good thing since my brakes aren't working too good - I did walk down a couple hills just in case. Less than 3 hours.

This is a walk we do periodically, once or twice a year. In my mind, this is one of the best, if not the best urban walk anywhere in the country. Great views over Lake Union and a variety of things to see: cityscape, bridges, houseboats, marinas, ships, seaplanes, ducks and geese. We always park at Gas Works Park. We've gone clockwise and counter-clockwise. On this walk we went clockwise. The weather was crystal clear and crisp. We always get breakfast at the Portage Bay Café in the South Lake Union neighborhood, just three blocks south on Terry Avenue. Cactus across the street is another option if Portage Bay has a long wait. We decided to extend our walk on the South Ship Canal Trail. We stopped for a beer at Old Stove Brewing just a block off the trail at 6th and Nickerson. Continuing on we went over the Ballard Bridge and then picked up the Burke-Gilman Trail for the return to Gas Works Park. We had great dusk views of the city lights from the top of Gas Works Park hill. Our total walk was 12.87 miles.
